In time everything will be alright…
Once told they'd save the universe during a time-traveling adventure, two would-be rockers from San Dimas, California find themselves as middle-aged dads still trying to crank out a hit song and fulfill their destiny.
For me personally, this is probably my most anticipated sequel on this list. The first two movies were huge parts of my childhood and some of my all-time favourite time-travel movies.
After years of rumours and attempts to get this film off the ground, I’m so glad that we’ll now be able to see the most triumphant Alex Winter in his first full live-action role since 1993’s Freaked returning alongside the breathtaking Keanu Reeves. This is the epitome of nostalgic heaven for me.
The first film established that the two loveable dummies we grew up watching would eventually write a song that would unite the world and end all war, hunger and poverty. But now they’re muddled-aged parents in rocky marriages and that song still hasn’t been written yet. Seeing where this takes them, especially when things haven’t quite turned out as they expected, is an interesting premise.
It’s also great to see so many other actors reprising their roles from the first two movies (including Missy, I mean Mom), but the late George Carlin will sadly be missed as Rufus. Based purely on my own conjecture, I doubt that they’ll recast him, but I hope we get some form of tribute to him as a reference at some point in the film.
Party on dudes!
